Follow Your Dreams Night Logo
In 2019, I had the amazing opportunity to work on a project in partnership with WASAC and TNSE. I was asked to develop and create branding for an event called WASAC Night and Follow Your Dreams Night. This was set to be an ongoing promotional event highlighting Indigenous culture as a part of their "This is Hockey" initiative.
It was important for me to take on a well-researched and authentic approach to branding as I am passionate about First Nations cultural revitalization. I'm constantly researching the visual lexicons of each tribe within my area - and Canada as a whole - to see what elements both unite us as a Nation and what differentiates us from each other.

I drew inspiration from the Woodlands style of art for the Manitoba Moose event logo. The Woodlands style of art is based on Midewiwin ancient scrolls pertaining to medicine, emphasizes outlines and silhouettes, and uses vibrant colours. The lines on the moose's neck symbolize power, and the arrowheads behind the moose are representative of protection and strength and are regarded as icons of courage. The spiral in the core of the moose symbolizes pure heart energy. The jerseys feature Cree florals, which I really wanted to showcase as I've grown up with a family of beaders.
